PCS is an independently operated public school, which provides educational excellence to K-8 students residing in the Princeton Regional School District.
  • Admission is via lottery and is open to all students
  • Has a rigorous and dynamic curriculum
  • Was ranked #1 Middle School and #2 Elementary School in New Jersey out of 700 and 1,300 schools, respectively, by JerseyCAN in August of 2013.
  • Named National Charter School of the Year in 2007
  • Charter School of Distinction in 2004
  • Recognized as a "No Child Left Behind" Blue Ribbon school in 2004

Active parent involvement

PCS has a culture of active parent involvement from its inception to the present day.
  • PCS was founded in 1997 by a group of parents who helped personally fund and raise money from within the community to set up the school. This support continues today with generous donations of money and time from parents.
  • PCS parents are active members of the PCS community, providing input and taking initiatives that continue to contribute to an outstanding educational experience for our students. for our students.

Reliance on donations

PCS relies on community and parent donations to fill the funding gap. Expenses directly related to student instruction are funded similar to public schools. However, all technology infrastructure and services, facilities, and after-school program expenses need to be funded by private donations from the community and parents. Funds have previously been used wholly or in part to:
  • Subsidize the existing after-school sports, science, music, and art clubs
  • Fund playground improvements
  • Purchase iPads for K-4 and Chromebooks for 5-8 instruction
  • Purchase a new Art Kiln and install a new 5-8 Science Lab
  • Fund author visits and field trips
  • Provide teacher training grants

Friends of PCS is a charitable, nonprofit corporation under section 501c (3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN# 22-3483674). As such your contribution will be tax deductible to the full extent permitted by law.
